Tornado Alley 2001 Tours: May 19
We encountered several HP supercells in the eastern Texas Panhandle & western Oklahoma, three of which were tornado-warned.
The shot below shows the gustfront of an outflow-dominant HP - the siren was being sounded at nearby Miami Tx at this time.
Another HP in western Okalahoma is tornado-warned. The storms produces a lot of lightning and this nice bell shaped meso. We didn't observe a tornado with this storm.
Near Elk City another left-moving HP prompts a tornado warning although again the storm looked entirely outflow dominant. The turbulent motion in the gustfront was incredible.
